DeFelsko Certified Coating Thickness Standards


DeFelsko Certified Coating Thickness Standards allow the user to confirm the accuracy of digital coating thickness gauges, and are the only suitable means to verify accuracy of mechanical or magnetic pull-off gauges such as the PosiTest gauge. Calibration Standards are available with three certified epoxy-coated metal plates and one zero plate of either ferrous or non-ferrous bases, to test the accuracy of coating thickness gages for metal substrates, including the PosiTest (banana gauge), PosiTest DFT, and the PosiTector 6000 series of dry film thickness gauges for metal substrates. Steel plates are supplied for testing magnetic pull-off or ferrous electronic paint gauges; aluminum plates are used to test eddy current paint gauges for non-ferrous substrates.

DeFelsko's Certified Coating Thickness Standards are supplied in a rigid protective folder.

 

 

For gauges measuring coatings on non-metal substrates, such as the PosiTector 200, Certified Coating Thickness Standards come in sets of four polystyrene blocks in an acrylic storage box to prevent against damages. The polystyrene Calibration Standards can also be used to verify the heavy-build coating thickness probes for the PosiTector 6000 (probes with letters "T" or "K" in the model number, as well as the new FLS, FHXS, FNGS probes).

 

 

 

All DeFelsko Certified Coating Thickness Standards are provided with a calibration certificate traceable to NIST or PTB.

Sets of Certified Coated Metal Plates for testing magnetic or eddy current coating thickness gauges:

magnetic (ferrous plates - epoxy on steel)

  • S1 zero plate plus three epoxy-coated steel plates thicknesses: 3, 10, 60 mils (75, 250, 1500 µm)
  • S2 zero plate plus three epoxy-coated steel plates thicknesses: 3, 10, 40 mils (75, 250, 1000 µm)
  • S3 zero plate plus three epoxy-coated steel plates thicknesses: 0.6, 1.6, 4.0 mils (15, 40, 100 µm)

eddy current (non-ferrous plates - aluminum)

  • A1 zero plate plus three epoxy-coated aluminum plates thicknesses: 3, 10, 60 mils (75, 250, 1500 µm)
  • A2 zero plate plus three epoxy-coated aluminum plates thicknesses: 3, 10, 20 mils (75, 250, 500 µm)
  • A3 four epoxy-coated aluminum plates thicknesses: 3, 5, 10, 20 mils (75, 125, 250, 500 µm)

 

Sets of Certified Polystyrene Blocks for testing high-thickness probes for metal substrates - place each block on a steel zero plate to test ferrous probes or aluminum zero plate to test non-ferrous probes.
